Hey all,

It’s Joe from “Laura and Joe”! Laura’s been busy with finishing school and I’m constantly being reminded of what an amazing woman she is for me. We were raking leaves at the house a week or so ago and it turned into something fun and funny 😀

This past summer, one of my best friends got married. But it wasn’t an ordinary affair. Oh no, it lasted 5 days! Pooja and Sean are Hindu and we were lucky enough to share in their joy over that beautiful week. This little clip is during Garba, which is celebrated with dance that lasts for hours. During dinner, every married woman was gifted a hand-made necklace and earring set from India. Pooja’s father went ahead and gave me a gift as well. It is a tradition for the husband to put the necklace on his wife. So naturally, Joe and I were like…”uhhhhh” isn’t this bad luck? Pooja’s father was jovial and said, “eh, you’re close enough!” Joe obviously had no idea he was being documented, and I’m pretty sure my dad didn’t know he was taking a video instead of a photo!

P.S. Here are a few photos from that week.

Friend feature! Joe’s best friend Mike has a new hobby: Mazda cars. His recent baby is this little Miata. Mike took Joe out on the parkway for a Sunday drive, and he let Joe take it for a spin. Luckily Joe learned how to drive on manual! And although Mike is an enabler, we love our time with him 🙂

We have had the opportunity to babysit some awesome kids as a couple. It comes with its challenges and joys, and even more funny moments. In this particular video, we are feeding dinner to Sophia. She is the daughter of our band’s drummer and his wife, and she is a little miracle. Sophia was born significantly premature, but was a champ and is now a healthy and precious little girl with so much personality. You will notice that personality here. Joe is attempting to make dinner time a game, which is a common method used by babysitters. Sophia is not amused…just hungry.

Before I met Joe, I loved to dance at parties. No, I didn’t have technical training, and sure, it wasn’t always graceful (most of the time it was thrashing and acting a fool). However, I never had the chance to learn a dance routine that I could perform well. Joe almost immediately expressed his experience in Salsa once we started dating. He learned back in high school and continued into college. And let me say, he sure can move those hips!

It took a while for me to gain the courage, but we attended our first salsa club in Roanoke last spring. (Shoutout to SalsaNoke!) I remember being super nervous, but thankfully I had a talented partner. We had a fantastic time and, after a while, I learned how to be a follower….lol. Here we are dancing at the Keeley Christmas gathering in 2016 after a few nudges from my aunt Nina.
